I've received the following from sun

'As you mention, the Apache team think this may be a Solaris issue, and as such,
would you (or them) be able to supply the relevant section of source code such
that I can begin trying to verify the results and build a test case? Ovbiously
at this stage, I can't say whether it is a Solaris issue or not, but we need to
get to the bottom of what is happening in order to rule this out.'

Can someone point me directly at the relevant source directly?  Does something
different happen when server side includes are used since it only seems to
happen in that case?
