Subject [Bug 57186] New: /bin/sh dependency
Date Wed, 05 Nov 2014 07:34:20 GMT

            Bug ID: 57186
           Summary: /bin/sh dependency
           Product: APR
           Version: 1.5.1
          Hardware: PC
                OS: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: trivial
          Priority: P2
         Component: APR
          Assignee: bugs@apr.apache.org
          Reporter: uudruid74@gmail.com

Hi - this isn't really a bug but more of a request. It would seem that when
APR is installed, it created its own version of libtool. This libtool seems to
store a large amount of system information such as CFLAGS which makes
source-based distributions problematic. The real issue is that is forms a
dependency on what /bin/sh is. Many systems have this as a symlink, and
programs that depend on APR will fail to compile if the link is changed.

Please be sure that the scripts that control APR and its libtool never assume
that /bin/sh is bash (even if it was when APR was built, subsequent invocations
shouldn't assume it hasn't change). If you need bash extensions, call /bin/bash.
