Can we tag this build as alpha3-rc1 and make it explicitly available rather
than make people remember the date?

Just to clarify : for those making doc changes for the alpha, make sure you
commit your changes to the alpha3 branch!  Look in the CVS documentation if
you aren't sure how to do this.
