New line charachters seem to be removed, changed or truncated

dims, as suggested I tested it with testNewLine(byte[] bytes) and this works ok,
the newline (or \r\n) does not get truncated.

However I do not completely agree that the problem is solved (or even invalid).
For instance :
1) how can one explain the fact that if I send the bytes and not the String that
the newline (\r\n) arives OK.
2) suppose that I have a complex object, which has several properties, in which
some properties are Strings (for instance : a value transfer object representing
what a user entered in a form with a "description" field).
If I send this value transfer object through a client to a web service (for
instance to save it in a db or something), then I want of course the web service
to respect the contents of my "description" field (including \r\n). On the other
hand, I do not want for each String property I have, convert first to bytes
simply because of the fact that someone might have entered a "\r\n".

any comments welcome
