Honestly, it was probably a mistake (mine) to commit it in the first place.  In my defense,
it's hard to say No when someone shows up with working code...  but I should have; it doesn't
solve an actual pain point for our users, so none of the maintainers was motivated to get
familiar enough with it to fix the kind of regressions we ran into.  I don't see that changing
if we were to resurrect it.  My sincere apologies for the time you put into it.
