Subject [jira] [Commented] (CASSANDRA-5560) Improve DESC command for sets
Date Mon, 13 May 2013 14:35:17 GMT

Aleksey Yeschenko commented on CASSANDRA-5560:

Something's wrong with your setup.

cqlsh:test> CREATE TABLE test (id int PRIMARY KEY, alist list<varchar>, aset set<int>,
amap map<varint, boolean>);
cqlsh:test> DESC TABLE test;

  id int PRIMARY KEY,
  alist list<text>,
  amap map<varint, boolean>,
  aset set<int>
  bloom_filter_fp_chance=0.010000 AND
  caching='KEYS_ONLY' AND
  comment='' AND
  dclocal_read_repair_chance=0.000000 AND
  gc_grace_seconds=864000 AND
  read_repair_chance=0.100000 AND
  replicate_on_write='true' AND
  populate_io_cache_on_flush='false' AND
  compaction={'class': 'SizeTieredCompactionStrategy'};

As for that small request - with tab-completion you only have to type 'DESC t[tab] table_name'
to get 'DESC TABLE table_name' (table_name can also be tab-completed).

> When doing a Describe column family on a "table" with a "set" column, it doesn't show
the type of the field in the set.

> Also a small request(I can open another ticket if you prefer), it is possible to make
the "Column family" keywords optional:
> DESC[ribe] [Column Family] cf_name
> So it will be possible like sql to just Desc table_name. (without typing much redundant
expected text)
