Subject [jira] [Commented] (CASSANDRA-13023) Add droppable tombstone metrics
Date Fri, 22 Jun 2018 13:03:00 GMT

Alain RODRIGUEZ commented on CASSANDRA-13023:

I think this metric is currently available (found in 3.11.1) and was for a long time.

It's a bit hidden though, the metric is exposed as org.apache.cassandra.db:type=ColumnFamilies,keyspace=<keyspace>,columnfamily=<table>.

Attibute: DroppableTombstoneRatio

It would make sense to me to make it available under org.apache.cassandra.metrics instead,
but I don't know about this historical choice, so I am missing some context.

[], be aware that this is available meanwhile, fwiw. :)

> Currently it's only possible to inspect the ratio of droppable tombstones on sstable
basis using the {{sstablemetadata}} tool. It would be very useful to have this information
provided as part of Cassandra metrics as well, e.g. to get an idea on the effectiveness of
tombstone eviction during compactions over time.
