Subject [jira] Commented: (CAY-745) Please add GRAPHIC/VARGRAPHIC type to Cayenne modeler GUI
Date Tue, 23 Mar 2010 20:21:27 GMT

Robin Roestenburg commented on CAY-745:

Feature request created.

I also tested the following workaround:
- Define a DbEntity using the modeler, make sure it has a field which uses the varchar-datatype
with a specific length.
- Create the table for the DbEntity manually, using a dbcs-datatype instead of the varchar-datatype.
- Add a row to the table using Cayenne. The field using the dbcs-datatype should be filled
with a string of the maximum size containing only UTF8 or UTF16 characters.

This works as expected.

> Please add GRAPHIC and VARGRAPHIC type to Cayenne modeler.
> GRAPHIC is string type, like CHAR.
> VARGRAPHIC is variable length string type , like VARCHAR.
> GRAPHIC/VARGRPAHIC type can contain double byte charactors (like Japanese,Chinese etc.)
> So, GRAPHIC/VARGRPAHIC types should be mapped with java.lang.String.
