Subject RE: Issue with VM MAC Addresses
Date Thu, 03 May 2012 09:38:02 GMT
This is not an error exactly, it is due to the fact that CloudStack is using MAC range which
is not within the official Vmware MAC address range (not sure exactly why). Editing the properties
of instances or System VMs deployed by CloudStack is generally not a recommended practice

Subject: Issue with VM MAC Addresses

Having an issue with CS 3.0.1 using ESXi 4.1 that causes the below VMware error.

"Change virtual NIC MAC Address
The MAC Address entered is not in the valid range. Valid values are between 00:50:56:00:00:00
and 00:50:56:3f:ff:ff."

This error is seen when selecting "edit settings" in vsphere client for any VM created by
cloudstack. Current Mac assigned by CS SSVM is 02:00:1b:...

Anyone know how to resolve this?
