The text containing the <a href=".."></a> is read from the database with
xsp. This data is then put through a xsl-template, but when it gets there,
just after xsp, all <,> and & tokens are encoded as &lt;,&gt; and &amp;.

This should not happen for the parts from the database. Can i stop this from

Could you give us some more information how did this happen?
To output <a href...> simply write it somewhere in your formatting XSL
<xsl:template match="link">
    <a href= {@href} <mailto:{@href}>  .../>
