I agree that resizing it proportionally does not create a new  
variation of the logo.

I don't agree. Removing some legally offending text from the logo  
might be seen as not changing it, but changing the font and bold  
characteristics does change it IMHO. If we're filling a box in a web  
page, it's a logo.

Could we ask Roger if he's willing to spend a bit more time putting  
Apache Derby with the hat into various form factors that can be used  
for these purposes? Do we have a list of aspect ratios that are needed?
