I think Emmanuel's question is very interesting and deserves to be voted on the ML.

[ ] -1 We should not release RC versions first, but the final version (and, eventually, release a service update very quickly if some important bugs are discovered)
I'm not really against this idea... Even though it will delay the release of the real 1.1, it will probably prevent us from having to release a 1.1.1 a few days after the 1.1 release.
