Just i case this might be helpful, here's a 2003 description of the details
when persistent search was introduced in Edirectory v8.6.1:

The above article states: "OIDs are 2.16.840.1.113730.3.4.3 (request oid) and
2.16.840.1.112730.3.4.7 (response oid)", so this should be the standard ones,
not following MS' example. Running ndstrace with all trace options enabled in
the server's associated "LDAP Server" object in the tree should easily reveal
if/what if going wrong.

If you can describe an easy way to test persistent searches, I'll be happy to
do some testing. Or help you with tracing the Edir server side to identify any
issue. In case it's a (suspected) bug in Edir, I can also offer to contact the
devs about it and try getting them to fix this.
