Subject [jira] [Created] (DRILL-3879) sqlline user authentication provides poor feedback on authentication
Date Thu, 01 Oct 2015 15:50:27 GMT
John Omernik created DRILL-3879:
-----------------------------------

Summary: sqlline user authentication provides poor feedback on authentication
                 Key: DRILL-3879
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DRILL-3879
             Project: Apache Drill
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Client - CLI
    Affects Versions: 1.1.0
            Reporter: John Omernik
            Priority: Minor
             Fix For: Future

When authenticating with sqlline using the -n and -p flags, if you provide an incorrect user/name
and password, instead of just failing with a bad user/pass type message, there is a whole
page of java stack trace. This should be a simple trapped message, because for users setting
up authentication, the stack trace may be overwhelming and they then think the setup is wrong
rather than setup is correct and user/pass is incorrect.
