Ah, I think that's the missing clue.  I don't have a retina display and I think all that is
happening in the new SDK is that you switched to a version of AIR that knows about retina
displays.  Looks that is AIR 3.7 or higher.

I think your original truncation question is related.  AIR might be upscaling the device font
which results in different metrics than expected.  Maybe some other committer with a retina
display can investigate what it takes to fix it, but I suspect that embedding fonts should
help.
