ASF GitHub Bot commented on FLINK-1032:

Github user StephanEwen commented on the pull request:

The error message *"Type GenericType<test.PoJoTestProgram.MyType> is not a composite
type. Key expressions are not supported."* is not very helpful, IMHO.
How about writing something like `Key expressions are only supported on POJO types. A
type is considered a POJO if all its fields are public, or have bother getters and setters
defined`. That would immediately tell the user where to look for the error, or how to alter
his types.

> Key: FLINK-1032
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FLINK-1032
> Project: Flink
> Issue Type: Sub-task
> Components: Java API

> Right now you can only use fields of the top-level object as key fields in groupings,
joins, and co-group. This should be extended to allow using nested fields. We have to be careful
with null fields, though.
