The problem here is that the TypeConverter creates a TupleTypeInfo for efficient mode when
there is no expected physical type.
Thus, if the other union input is a scala tuple then the union operator complains that the
input types are different.
Any suggestions how to nicely solve this [~twalthr]? Thanks!
