Subject [jira] [Commented] (GORA-116) gora treats split points as if they represent actual values in the table

Enis Soztutar commented on GORA-116:

By applying a schema over the key space, Gora effectively requires that the split points have
the same form with the rows. But they don't have to be actual values from the table, right?
Two solutions come to my mind: Either require the split points to conform to the key-schema
(which is the case right now), or convert the split points to a comparable binary form (by
filling or truncating), ie. convert single byte to 8 bytes, then convert to long. Thoughts?

> Doing goraci testing with the hbase back-end for gora. I created single-byte split points.
When I tried to map-reduce over the table, the gora back-end failed trying to convert the
split points into Longs.
