Subject [jira] [Commented] (HADOOP-9109) Support remote shell comands other than ssh in startup scripts
Date Mon, 17 Dec 2012 18:34:12 GMT

Albert Chu commented on HADOOP-9109:

I did not add any tests as this patch is for the startup scripts and not for any of the Java
files. Unsure of proper way to add tests for these new environment variables. As far as
I can tell, there are no tests for the scripts already.

I manually tested by building the trunk and setting the respective environment variables in
my shell to launch the hadoop daemons. I also tested by setting the environment variables
in the respective "-env.sh" scripts.

> Some organizations have remote shell launching mechanisms other than ssh. It would be
nice to be able to use these other remote shell commands without hand modifying the startup
> I've attached a locally developed patch for this against Hadoop 1.1.0. It modifies conf/hadoop-env.sh,
bin/slaves.sh, and bin/hadoop-daemon.sh and supports a HADOOP_SSH_CMD environment variable
to allow users to set whatever remote shell command they want to use.
