Subject [jira] [Updated] (HADOOP-9712) Write contract tests for FTP filesystem, fix places where it breaks
Date Wed, 10 Jul 2013 17:53:48 GMT

     [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-9712?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:all-tabpanel
]

Steve Loughran updated HADOOP-9712:
-----------------------------------

    Status: Patch Available  (was: Open)

Tests are in the HADOOP-9361, will only run if you define the FS url and ftp path
{code}
  <property>
    <name>fs.ftp.contract.test.fs.name</name>
    <value>ftp://linuxvm/</value>
  </property>

  <property>
    <name>fs.ftp.contract.test.testdir</name>
    <value>/home/stevel/test</value>
  </property>
{code}

BTW, as a sanity check, the contract-driven tests refuse to play if the specified FS is not
FTP (more precisely, the FS URI schema matches that of the contract. This is to stop rm -rf
tests on the local fs happening by accident

> implement the abstract contract tests for S3, identify where it is failing to meet expectations
and, where possible, fix.
> FTPFS appears to be the least tested (& presumably used) hadoop filesystem implementation;
there may be some bug reports that have been around for years that could drive test cases
and fixes.
