Subject [jira] [Commented] (HADOOP-12718) Incorrect error message by fs -put local dir without permission
Date Fri, 20 May 2016 18:15:13 GMT

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-12718?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15293895#comment-15293895

Chris Nauroth commented on HADOOP-12718:

I'd like to proceed with this plan:

# Revert the patch previously committed from all branches.
# If you'd still like to pursue this patch, I'd agree to retargeting it to 3.x, where we can
mark it backwards-incompatible.
# If continuing on trunk, then we'll fold in the Windows compatibility fix.
# Let's also firm up the spec and contract tests as Steve suggested. I think you could achieve
common testing for HDFS and possibly the local file system. The test likely can't work in
any meaningful way against S3A/WASB/etc., because they enforce authorization to a whole S3
bucket/Azure Storage account/etc. without any meaningful per-file authorization after that.

I'll wait a few days for further comment before I start reverting.
