Subject [jira] [Commented] (HADOOP-15190) Use Jacoco to generate Unit Test coverage reports
Date Fri, 02 Feb 2018 23:16:00 GMT

Allen Wittenauer commented on HADOOP-15190:

I was reminded today of HDFS-12711 which is still very much a problem. (We're dropping between
30-70% of the unit test results in every patch run.) Adding any sort of coverage code as
part of the unit test runs is just going to make HDFS worse. Granted, not as bad as adding
more unit tests or, forbid, a big functionality merge, but it will still add load and push
it even farther off the cliff.

> Currently Hadoop is using maven-clover2-plugin for code coverage, which is outdated.
And Atlassian open-sourced clover last year so license cannot be purchased although we can
switch to use the license-free version called "openclover".
> This Jira is to replace clover with Jacoco, which is actively maintained by the community.
