I just checked, following are defined for these.

# pointing to hadoop 1.x
HADOOP_HOME=/usr/local/hadoop/hadoop-1.2.1/

# directory which is created after
extracting hbase-2.0.0-SNAPSHOT-bin.tar.gz

HBASE_HOME=/usr/local/hbase/hbase-2.0.0-SNAPSHOT/
