Subject [jira] [Commented] (HIVE-14100) current_user() returns invalid information

Peter Vary commented on HIVE-14100:
-----------------------------------

The description states (current_user() - Returns current user name | SessionState *UserFromAuthenticator*),
but when using HadoopDefaultAuthentication, it returns the unix username running the hiveserver2
process.

[~apivovarov] What was the original intention of the current_user()? Should it return the
user used for the background process authentication (UserFromAuthenticator), or the user used
to authenticate the connection (SessionState.get().getUserName())?

Thanks,
Peter

> Using HadoopDeaultAuthenticator the current_user() returns the username of the unix user
running hiveservice2.
> Using SessionStateAuthenticator the current_user returns the username which is provided
when the connection started.
