I'm not sure that mailman for managing mail lists is the same as mailman 
for checking email via a web browser (Endymion product?)

We've used mailman previously & it works nicely.  We now use IMP 
(www.horde.org) Which scales well & is customisable.
(with Apache & php accelerator)
