It is highly unusual to have a 500 error without an entry in the error
log, so something is really messed up here.  In all likelihood, it is a
problem with authentication, and not with the AliasMatch.  Does it work if
the authentication is removed?  Does it work if you use the "~" format
with the authentication?  What do your authentication directives looks
like?

You also, of course, are mixing modules with incompatible APIs (EAPI
versus normal API).  This could cause any number of different problems.
