Subject [users@httpd] ProxyPass and POST Requests
Date Tue, 04 Nov 2008 13:05:55 GMT

I'm using Apache HTTP Server ( to redirect incoming HTTP
connections to related servers in the local network. For this purpose, I
configured apache with below directives.

  LoadModule proxy_module modules/
  LoadModule proxy_http_module modules/

  NameVirtualHost *:80
  ProxyRequests On

  <VirtualHost *:80>
    ProxyPass /
    ProxyPassReverse /

  <VirtualHost *:80>
    ProxyPass /
    ProxyPassReverse /

The other side of the redirection (192.168.1.{3,4}) is handled by Apache
Tomcat servers. When one issues a POST request, Apache (
complains that:

  Proxy Error

  The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
  The proxy server could not handle the request POST /do.

  Reason: Error reading from remote server

and it dumps

  (70014)End of file found: proxy: error reading status line from remote server,
  proxy: Error reading from remote server returned by /do, referer:

in to the error log. Any ideas about what might be the problem?
Moreover, any alternative methods for domain based proxying is welcome
