Thanks - that's exactly what I needed.  I now have this:

    <Location "/test_auth">
      AuthType Basic
      AuthName "Secure Area"
      PerlAuthenHandler Apache2::AuthenMSAD
      PerlSetVar MSADDomain wcl.local
      PerlSetVar MSADServer wcl-dc1
      Require valid-user

and it works beautifully.

I'll set that up next.
