I'd suggest that its up to you,

Both are proposals, meaning that it would take a vote of comitters to move
iether back into james' tree, and consequently into releases.

Therefore logic says you are entitled to work on either, I suspect, but
can't remember, that IMAP2 is newer and has been patched more often and more
recently.
