Subject [jira] Commented: (JAMES-124) Add the ability to "kick" the outgoing queue

Stefano Bagnara commented on JAMES-124:
---------------------------------------

Noel, can you provide more informations about the thing you call control message and the plans
for a redesign of the spooling mechanism?
Does a control message follow the matcher/mailet rules? What kind of control messages can
you think of?
What use case can we solve with a "control message" design versus a "broadcast event" from
the MailetContext to all the mailets in the given mailet context (this is just an example,
but I think could be an option for this use case too)?

> It would be nice to be able to "kick" the outgoing queue to force the queue to
> deliver all it's pending mail. This is useful after a problem that affects all
> mail deliveries.
> On a related note the SMTP might also want to support ETRN as well if there
> anybody uses it anymore.
