Subject [jira] Resolved: (JAMES-434) NPE on empty sender and AUTHenticated user
Date Fri, 09 Jun 2006 10:26:30 GMT
Stefano Bagnara resolved JAMES-434:

    Fix Version: 2.4.0
     Resolution: Fixed

Marking this as fixed. Return a 503 error if a null sender is used.
If we think that it is better to handle null senders from authenticated networks we should
open a new issue.

> NPE on empty sender and AUTHenticated user
> ------------------------------------------
> Key: JAMES-434
> URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JAMES-434
> Project: James
> Type: Bug

> Components: SMTPServer
> Versions: 2.2.0
> Reporter: Stefano Bagnara
> Assignee: Stefano Bagnara
> Priority: Minor
> Fix For: 2.3.0, 2.4.0

> If an AUTHenticated user try to send a message with an empty sender james throws an NullPointerException.
> I've created a test for this but I don't know what the best behaviour is:
> should we simply return a 503 5.7.1 Incorrect Authentication for Specified Email Address
> or should we allow empty senders for AUTHenticated users?
