Subject [jira] [Commented] (JAMES-1513) Default configurations for server Fail
Date Thu, 20 Jun 2013 16:35:20 GMT

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JAMES-1513?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13689389#comment-13689389

Steve Oewns commented on JAMES-1513:

[~eric@apache.org] I could probably submit a patch for this myself if I knew which JAR held
the working configuration. I think the fix is simply copying that working config file to
the provided template file. It would seem that the files are not consistent with each other.
This makes adoption very difficult since people first using the system will quickly discover
that following the directions provided does not end up in a working system but ends up in
a system that fails to start.

> --------------------------------------
> Key: JAMES-1513
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JAMES-1513
> Project: James Server
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: SMTPServer
> Affects Versions: 3.0-beta4
> Environment: Centos
> Reporter: Steve Oewns
> Using the provided smtpserver-template.conf causes james to die unexpectedly on startup
with no indication in the logs as to why.
> Repro steps:
> Unzip james and run james start. Server starts and stays running.
> Stop james and then copy the smtpserver-template.conf file to smtpserver.conf then restart
the server.
> James shuts down after about 30 seconds and nothing in the logs indicates that there
was a problem.
