Hi,

I would suggest you try to connect Eclipse to a running instance of James,
that is, to do remote  debugging.

For that you need to modify the conf/wrapper.conf file:

wrapper.java.additional.16=-agentlib:jdwp=transport=dt_socket,address=9988,s
erver=y,suspend=n
wrapper.java.additional.15=-Xdebug

Then, you can do

bin/james start

In Eclipse, you need to create a remote debug configuration: Run / Debug
Configurations . There, click on Remote Java Application. Create one as
James Remote, the port 9988, and the host you use for James.

You can connect to the james server, set a breakpoint, and step over.
