There is a horizontal scrollbar to move at right and see the button. 
Even if a vertical stack of elements allows to display more characters 
in combo list, there is always the limit of screen which will happen.

The vertical view is unsightly, and not respect (imo) the current 
look&feel. I've prefer have a horizontal line with all elements and use 
the horizontal scrollbar to move the pane.
