Subject Conflicting Broker server.properties - What Happens?
Date Thu, 28 Apr 2016 20:14:21 GMT
Hey All,

Was wondering what happens in the case of having a cluster where brokers'
server.properties files differ. That is, what happens if Broker1 has
default.replication.factor=3 and Broker2 has default.replication.factor=1.
If I issue a create topic command w/o specifying the replication level, do
I get 1 or 3 depending on which Broker is the Controller? Which Broker
serviced the request (not sure what this would mean, sorry)? Which Broker
was assigned to be the Partition Leader?

This gets more interesting of course when you consider settings like
unclean.leader.election. Does it just matter what the server.properties of
the current Controller are?

Thanks for any info on the matter.
