I am well aware of the situation with JBoss. To make JBoss run with log4j 1.2 you have to
patch JBoss. There is no other way. The patches are available though. See for example

I assume JBoss will migrate to log4j 1.2 when it is officially released. Some of the internal
changes in log4j are designed with support for/by EJB containers in mind.   

This is a vast topic actually. I'll keep you posted whenever I have more information. Regards,
