+1 +1 +1.

I believe Mark's concern with Paul and Scott is a sensible one. I'm a
perfect example of what can happen. :-\ . But I'm not sure how long is
long enough. If they have shown promise in the sandbox and are motivated
to contribute, I think this benefit outweighs the possibility of them
becoming additions to the Log4j AWOL list.

+1 - Having seen Jake in action for sometime now in the sandbox and his
work
with the servlet related packages, I support this.

-1 - I agree that both Paul and Scott have been very active of late, and
have contributed code, insights, and energy to the log4j project. Paul in
particular has been very interested in finding ways to contribute, even in
areas that are not directly in his areas of log4j interest. Scott's work
with the Chainsaw changes and other areas have been really exciting. But
even with this, I do not feel it warrants committer access to the main
log4j
cvs at this time. I am, however, very comfortable granting them committer
access to the log4j-sandbox (and I guess that would be considered a
different vote). I do not want this interpreted as downplaying their
contributions, I feel quite the opposite. But after the discussions we had
back in February, I want log4j committer-ship to earned and given to folks
that have the interest and energy to really tackle issues in the project
and
to keep at it; not just fade into the background after being granted
committer access. I think they are both on the right track for becoming
log4j committers, I guess I feel it is too soon.
