I just realized that I incorrectly mentioned the sm variable instead of the
started variable in my previous explanation. I meant to say the started variable
was not set correctly becaues the classes start method was not called before
trying to use the classload to load the class. It still is a bug within the
tomcat code base and not the log4j code base.
