Gary,

I never did that for Commons VFS as I found it to be a PITA when using Nexus.  I would just
keep performing the release over and over until it was right.  I know the builds I've done
with the release plugin didn't support an RC tag but with the maven artifacts not labeled
as an RC - or if they did I have no idea how.
