ErrorHandlers are about handling errors from within Appenders. I think the
question on the table has to do with a Filter for LoggingEvents. Luckily,
log4j provides a base class for Filters, and a way to configure them. I'm
not aware of one that does what is being asked, however, it doesn't sound
like it would be too difficult to write your own Filter to do what you want.
