Subject RE: Task Logging

The new version of Chainsaw (http://logging.apache.org/log4j/docs/chainsaw.html), when configured
to use a LogFilePatternReceiver could help.

If you define each task as a part of a common logger hierarchy, Chainsaw can colorize or filter
the task with the click of the mouse.

More complex searching/colorizing and filtering relies on a simple expression syntax - see
the tutorial (available from the Welcome panel) for a full explanation.

Subject:	Task Logging
I'm currently using Log4J for an application that is getting quite
large, and the log files are becoming hard to read.

I'm not sure if there is some Log4J tool that does what I want, so I
will just describe it:

What I want is to see each task that the application does, but for the
log messages to be arranged in a hierachy - so for example, there might
be a log event

"loaded some data"

If I want to see more info on this, I could select it and see

"loaded some data"
      "Opened the file"
      "Loaded 15 objects from file"
      "Closing file"

And if I need more info on the second stage, I could select it and
drill down further... Currently, when a task fails, I need all the
logging information for it, but finding it and identifying it among all
the other log messages is getting very difficult.

Can suggest anything for this?
