Subject RE: Why is LEVEL all DEBUG in chainsaw
Date Tue, 28 Feb 2006 17:25:12 GMT
Hi Scott,
A good news,
After I removed %-5r, it shows LEVEL info right now,
What does %-5r mean?

I still use TIMESTAMP LEVEL [LOGGER] MESSAGE.

I will keep trying it.

Thank you for your tremendous help.

Hi Scott,

It is the same,

What does this mean in Message of chainsaw-log?
"found non-matching
line:com.process.outputprocess.commands.Commandmanager"

I changed logFormat to <param name="logFormat" value="TIMESTAMP LEVEL
[CLASS] (THREAD:NDC)"/>

I have removed the %-5r from your appender conversion pattern.
Please see my log4j.xml and chainsaw.xml as the following.

<plugin name="LogFileReceiver"
class="org.apache.log4j.varia.LogFilePatternReceiver">

Logformat should not include the conversion pattern from your appender.

Use this instead as the receiver's logformat:

<param name="logFormat" value="TIMESTAMP PROP(RELATIVETIME) LEVEL
[CLASS] (THREAD:NDC)"/>

(I'd actually remove the %-5r from your appender conversion pattern, and
you could then remove PROP(RELATIVETIME) from the logformat).

Hi Scott,

Thank you, it is getting better.
I added <param name="logFormat" value="%d %-5r %p [%c] (%t:%x) TIMESTAMP
PROP(RELATIVETIME) LEVEL [CLASS] (THREAD:NDC)"/>

in chainwas.xml file, I have found chainsaw-log Event panel already
showing all kinds of logger Level. The Logger column is
org.apache.log4j.varia.LogFilePatternReceiver.
in Message column,
all lines have a message: "found non-matching line:
com.process.outputprocess.commands ... "

And I can't see my Event Panel any more.

In your Chainsaw config file, you probably have forgotten to add a
placeholder in logFormat for the -r argument.

It should be:
%d %-5r %p [%c] (%t:%x)

TIMESTAMP PROP(RELATIVETIME) LEVEL [CLASS] (THREAD:NDC)

Let me know if that doesn't match your logFormat.

Hi Scott,

Thank you again.
I changed it, but still DEBUG level.
I attached my whole log4j.xml here.
My application goes to D:/Outputs/logs/JbossLogInfo.log in appender
name="JbossLogInfo

In my chainsaw.xml configure file, there is an entry pointing to
JbossLogInfo.log.

Please help.

Change
%d %-5r %-p [%c] (%t:%x)
to
%d %-5r %p [%c] (%t:%x)

And let us know if Chainsaw can view the severity (you don't want the
'-' in the priority conversion pattern in this case).

Hi, Folks,

In my event panel, the level is "DEBUG", no the others.

>From my log file, most all INFO, no debug.
I checked formatting in Log Panel Preferences. I level blank for full
logger
Did I miss something?

The following is my log4j.xml. Please help. Thank you.
