Subject [jira] [Commented] (LUCENE-4488) Jenkins builds aren't saving heap dumps anymore
Date Thu, 18 Oct 2012 16:16:03 GMT

Michael McCandless commented on LUCENE-4488:

Hmmm when I run:

  ant test -Dtests.nightly=true -Dtestcase=TestIndexWriterOnJRECrash -Dargs="-XX:+HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError"

in lucene/core, I can't find any heap dump file created. Wasn't this the test that prevents
us from turning on heap dumps? (Or is it creating hs_err somewhere? But it's tiny ... I can't
find it either ...).

> Our Jenkins builds used to save heap dumps, which is really useful for tracking down
OOMEs that are hard to reproduce: sometimes these OOMEs are due to real issues.
> From the thread it sounds like it's easy to fix TestIndexWriterOnJRECrash to not dump
