Actually we have this, with the "shards.tolerant=true" and "shards.info=true" parameters,
right?
It would take some parsing of the response (in essence, if you get a shards.info with an error
section in it, you have a partial response set).

I agree it could be made more user-friendly, but the functionality is there if callers want
to use it.
