Subject [jira] [Created] (SOLR-7454) Solr 5.1 does not use SOLR_JAVA_MEM in solr.in.sh
Date Thu, 23 Apr 2015 16:39:38 GMT
Kyle Barnhart created SOLR-7454:
-----------------------------------

             Summary: Solr 5.1 does not use SOLR_JAVA_MEM in solr.in.sh
                 Key: SOLR-7454
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-7454
             Project: Solr
          Issue Type: Bug
    Affects Versions: 5.1
         Environment: CentOS 7
            Reporter: Kyle Barnhart

Solr 5.0 uses the SOLR_JAVA_MEM in solr.in.sh while Solr 5.1 does not.

I was able to resolve this by commenting out line 1262 in bin/solr
{code}
SOLR_JAVA_MEM=()
{code}

and setting SOLR_JAVA_MEM in bin/solr.in.sh
{code}
SOLR_JAVA_MEM=('-Xms512m' '-Xmx512m')
{code}
instead of
{code}
SOLR_JAVA_MEM="-Xms512m -Xmx512m"
{code}

This could probably be resolved with something like at line 1262 to 1269 in bin/solr
{code}
if [ -z "$SOLR_JAVA_MEM" ]; then
  if [ "$SOLR_HEAP" != "" ]; then
    SOLR_JAVA_MEM=("-Xms$SOLR_HEAP" "-Xmx$SOLR_HEAP")
  else
    SOLR_JAVA_MEM=('-Xms512m' '-Xmx512m')
  fi
else
  SOLR_JAVA_MEM=($SOLR_JAVA_MEM)
fi
{code}
instead of
{code}
SOLR_JAVA_MEM=()
if [ "$SOLR_HEAP" != "" ]; then
  SOLR_JAVA_MEM=("-Xms$SOLR_HEAP" "-Xmx$SOLR_HEAP")
fi

if [ -z "$SOLR_JAVA_MEM" ]; then
  SOLR_JAVA_MEM=('-Xms512m' '-Xmx512m')
fi
{code}
