Subject [jira] [Commented] (LUCENE-5822) Create a markdown formatted README file for Lucene/Solr
Date Sat, 01 Jul 2017 23:05:00 GMT

Mike Drob commented on LUCENE-5822:

Yea, `test` and `precommit` are good to run. Ostensibly, I was unaware of `nightly-smoke`
before and if it's something we think should be run then we should add it to the docs. Release
smoke test has previously taken ~1.5 hours for me, I expect the nightly to be about the same.

(My current run of smokes just failed because my ant was too new, going to go find an older
version to install and try again)

> We have a minimal plain text readme file right now. Github is very popular these days
and we are even accepting pull requests from there. I think we should add a proper markdown
formatted README file which not only talks about the features of Lucene/Solr but also include
a short tutorial on both Lucene and Solr.
