Subject [jira] [Commented] (SOLR-11891) BinaryResponseWriter fetches unnecessary fields
Date Wed, 24 Jan 2018 06:21:00 GMT

Mikhail Khludnev commented on SOLR-11891:

I believe that after [Document doc = docFetcher.doc(id, fnames);|[]] Lucene's
Document contains only the requested fields.

I'm not sure but this can be related somehow, when result [transformer] is used it may refer
to any field, so it might impact fl filtering, also some remaining wildcard param {{fl=*}} might
trigger full loading.

> We observe that solr query time increases significantly with the number of rows requested,
 even all we retrieve for each document is just fl=id,score.  Debugged a bit and see that
most of the increased time was spent in BinaryResponseWriter,  converting lucene document
into SolrDocument.  Inside convertLuceneDocToSolrDoc():

can’t we just iterate through the requested field list?
