Here is a patch - this turns out be remarkably simple to implement.

> It can be useful to report intervals from one fields as if they came from another. 
For example, fast prefix searches can be implemented by indexing text into two fields, one
with the full terms and one with edge-ngrams enabled; to do proximity searches against terms
and prefixes, you could wrap a term query against the ngrammed field so that its intervals
appear to come from the normal field, and use it an an ordered or unordered interval.
