Subject [jira] [Commented] (SOLR-13263) Facet Heat Map should support GeoJSON
Date Fri, 26 Apr 2019 19:50:00 GMT

Bar Rotstein commented on SOLR-13263:

Sorry I have been sort of MIA lately.
I continued working on this issue recently, and I noticed that currently, GeoJSON has no equivalent
for WKT's "Envelope" type.
It seems like Elastic Search work around this issue using their own extension to GeoJSON,
which adds an "envelope" type.
Here's a link to the documentation: [Elastic Search "envelope" type|].

Should Solr add a convenient shape type for this too?

> Currently Facet Heatmap(Geographical facets) do not support any other subjects other
than WKT or '[ ]'. This seems to be caused since FacetHeatmap.Parser#parse uses SpatialUtils#parseGeomSolrException,
which in turn uses a deprecated JTS method (SpatialContext#readShapeFromWkt) to parse the
string input.
> The newer method of parsing a String to a Shape object should be used, makes the code
a lot cleaner and should support more formats (including GeoJSON).
