This seems to work from SolrJ now:

            ModifiableSolrParams params = new ModifiableSolrParams();
            params.set("qt", "/clustering");
            params.set("q", query);
            params.set("carrot.title", "filename_s");
	   params.set("rows","100");
            params.set("clustering", "true");
            params.set("carrot.snippet", "excerpt_t");

The rows param needs to be a string I think.
